As I fall to the background on a park bench observing the behaviors with nature's backdrop, I begin to brainstorm all things that surface when I think of enlightenment:
1. To be at one's highest self
2. To realize the sentient being is completely void of a self, of an identity
3. To become fully self-less of the ego's desires
Perhaps upon realization there is no self, there are no constructs of me vs. them, but all energy branches from the same source, a tree of infinity. Perhaps the continuous dichotomy of selfish vs. self-less, regardless of which end of the spectrum we believe a behavior or action to fall, is still hindering the ability to see the grander infinity of connection. Perhaps the ego's selfish desires still intertwine with deeper love, even if not intentional, beyond the ego's pleasure, which can still be viewed simultaneously as self-less love... and vice versa. Can all thoughts/behaviors/actions be viewed as selfish and self-less concurrently?
Rereading the brainstorm above, enlightenment, today, is aligning most with the ability to realize the sentient being is completely void of self. Our potential seems limited with any dichotomy of me vs. everything else. I am everything else, and everything else is me. In that light, I perceive the ability to make decisions and choose actions that fulfills everything... which ultimately fulfills I/you/we/everyone, because we are all leaves from the singular tree of infinity.
